Science Bowl Information

Each science bowl team may consist of the following: (1) a minimum of three members, two of which must be African American, or (2) a maximum of four team members, three of which must be African American. An alternate is allowed. However, the ethnicity requirement of a competing team must be as described above.

The science bowl will feature single elimination competition between either two or three four-member teams (depending on the number of schools participating) answering question in the science bowl areas.

A panel of judges will judge the science bowl competition. The decisions of the judges will be final.

A moderator will read the science bowl questions

Middle/Junior High Schools may enter two teams in the Junior Division (7th - 9th grades). High Schools (9th - 12th grades) may enter two 9th grade science bowl teams in the Junior Division and two teams in the Senior Division (10th - 12th grades).

Recognition

Each Science Bowl team member will receive a Certificate of Participation. Each member of the first, second and third place team will receive a medallion and a Certificate of Award. The first place winning team members in each division will be invited to the NOBCChE Student and Teacher Recognition Banquet in June 2007.
